Shark Honored with International Red Dot Award for Excellence in Product Design
Kent, WA - July 15, 2010
The Shark Modular Tool Cart and Shark Professional Workstation have received one of the world's most prestigious product design awards for outstanding and innovative product design. The red dot award, an internationally recognized quality label for excellent design, was awarded to the pair of Shark products during an award ceremony in Essen, Germany on July 5. Both of the Shark products honored are designed for use in automobile service centers.
With more than 12,000 submissions from more than 60 countries, the international "red dot design award" is the largest and most renowned design competition in the world. It is divided into the "red dot award: product design," the "red dot award: communication design," and the "red dot award: design concept." The award-winning products are put before an international public in the red dot design museum.
Products submitted to the red dot design award are judged by an international jury of top design experts who base their judgments on degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, longevity, ecological compatibility, clarity of function, and other criteria.
Shark president Brian Witz said the company is extremely honored by the awards. "These awards validate all of the incredibly hard work that the entire Shark team has put into the design of our products," he said. "But our real gratification comes from knowing that we're providing products that improve the automotive service experience for technicians, owners, and customers."
